From my header picture, you may wonder who I’m posing beside in the picture. If you are a hockey fan or live in the Pacific Northwest, you will know the famous dude beside me is none other than Alain Vigneault. Who is Alain Vigneault? As evident from
his name, Alain Vigneault has a French name and is French-Canadian. He is also the head coach of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team. I’ve had the pleasure to speak with him on several occasions and he’s a really cool guy. He’s really down to earth and extremely awesome to speak with. He really is keen on his fitness and regularly works out and jogs around scenic Vancouver. He’s just finished his first year with the Canucks organization and coached them to their highest point total in team history with more wins ever in a year. They finished first in their division and made it to the second round of the playoffs before losing to the Anaheim Ducks. Quite honestly, I’m not a diehard Vancouver fan like most people but I do follow them, especially this year because of Alain Vigneault. He’s definitely my favorite Canuck and I will continue to follow their progress because of him. I will follow his entire career as a result of meeting him. He’s very honest and straight-forward during TV interviews which is awesome. I hate it when athletes and coaches only give the cliché answers because what’s the point? You don’t add anything for fans and only repeat what dozens of others have said in the past. His most popular quote has to do with reporters asking him about this coaching fate when New Jersey Devils coach, Claude Julien, was fired a week before the end of the regular season while the Devils were in first place.
“Well, Tamby told me not to worry because Dave is a sh*#@ coach.”
Tamby is Steve Tambellini, assistant general manager and Dave is Dave Nonis, the GM of the Canucks.
That’s the quote of the year!
Alain: good luck for next season and all the best from your number one fan.
Probably the best pic of the three but the flash didn’t work!

1[…] Alain Vigneault is the man! Not only did he guide the Vancouver Canucks to the playoffs with their highest point total in team history, he just won the Jack Adams Trophy for top coach of the year. This is the second time in Vancouver Canucks history that a coach has earned that honor. Vigneault barely beat out last year’s winner, Lindy Ruff of the Buffalo Sabres, with 134 voting points to 126. Michel Therrien of the Pittsburgh Penguins was third with 91 voting points. “I really am surprised,” said Vigneault. “The other two were great candidates, especially I thought Michel with the tremendous improvement of the Penguins.” It wasn’t even a year ago that Vigneault was hired as Canucks coach, plucked from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, and he would never imagined taking home the Jack Adams less then 12 months later. “It certainly wasn’t my goal,” Vigneault said. “My goal when I was named with the Canucks was to put the team back on track and them in the direction they needed.” The Canucks only made it to the second round of the playoffs this year where they lost of the eventual Stanley Cup champions, Anaheim Ducks. They had the potential to do better if their top line actually performed to their potential. Vigneault was asked about his biggest accomplishment in 2007 to which he replied, “That’s easy, getting my picture taken with Rick Yuen!” _uacct = “UA-1742773-1″; urchinTracker(); […]
