The Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) is demanding that the ATP increase its quota of Asian players to at least 25% of the field for tournaments held in Asia. Doing the right thing, the ATP is not giving in to such ridiculous demands. To prove that the ATF is serious in its demands, it is threatening to pull out of the tour and form its own circuit for Asian players. “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out” should be the ATP’s official response to this matter but to be polite, they are merely saying “no” to the ATF.
How silly is this to allow lesser skilled players into a tournament just because of their race? Shouldn’t a tournament feature the best players that are willing to enter it?

Chaiyapak Siriwat, vice president of the ATF, accused the ATP of neglecting Asian tennis by restricting the number of local participants.

“All the people in Asia look at the Australian Open as their grand slam, but we get only one wildcard,” Chaiyapak told Reuters.
“What are they doing for Asian tennis? What kind of development is this?
“We have the money, we have a big population. If we make a pact, we can do it on our own.”

Although unlikely, if the ATF were to have their own circuit out of protest, ATF would be short for Amateur Tennis Federation because that’s the type of skill level that fans would be witnessing.
