I’ve been wanting a mobile and powerful laptop for a while now and Dell has a sale on the ultra small XPS M1210. Unfortunately the sale ends today so I will have to make up my mind ASAP. I haven’t had time to call them up yet and negotiate a better price or added some upgrades to the base system. All I have been doing is chatting online with their sales consultants and that hasn’t helped. They won’t budge on the price online and it takes him forever to type up a response.
I have a friend who wants one too so hopefully I can get a better deal if I get two on them in the same transaction.
The specs are pretty impressive for the price right now:
Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB)
Windows Vista Home Premium
12″ Widescreen WXGA Display with TrueLife
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz (2 Dimms)
120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 TurboCache
53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 Internal Wireless
Integrated Webcam and Mobile Broadband Antenna
I will also have to ask if I can get Windows XP instead of Vista because I haven’t heard any praises for Vista yet. The Aero Glass function is neat in the beginning but it’s nothing special after you do it a few times.
Not that I can really afford one right now but I’m banking on this blog is fully pay for it AND the new cell phone I have my eye on.

2I have this laptop. When I bought it, I found a glitch in Dell’s ordering page that gave me the top of the line model with every option for free and an additional $250 off so I ended up with a free video card, better processor, camera, extra RAM and an overall cheaper price.
Great laptop. It was faster than my desktop for a good long while.

3Gotta love those computer glitches.
Now that I’ve ordered it, the hard part is the waiting.
I just hope there isn’t too much bloatware installed.
