Where is the free speech?
free speech
Ever since Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction that resulted in nipple-gate, TV and radio personalities have been walking on eggshells. What ever happened to free speech and the first amendment of the United States? Shock jock Howard Stern felt too restricted and left terrestrial radio for satellite radio. Then again, I would have left as well if someone offered me 500 million reasons to work for the competition. Maybe that’s why the competition still hasn’t made one penny of profit yet.

Fast becoming an extinct delivery system?
satellite radio

National radio syndicate host Don Imus has been one of the latest casualties of America’s politically correct and oversensitive nature. He didn’t deserve to be fired by his rude comments, maybe suspended for a few weeks but that should have been it. I’m sure the Europeans are still laughing at North Americans over Janet Jackson. In Europe, nudity isn’t a taboo topic and that’s why it’s widely displayed and no one thinks much of it.
Canada doesn’t have much free speech either and the CRTC makes sure of that.
How does someone from satellite radio get reprimanded by their content?! Satellite radio is the equivalent to cable TV where there is no regulation by the FCC. By paying a subscription fee implies that people knowingly approve of the content of the program they watch. With this in mind, how in world does national syndicate radio show, Opie & Anthony get suspended from their show by their employers?! They didn’t break any “rules” per se but there was mounting pressure from some organizations of a homeless bit that they aired. Even more outrageous was their programming was a re-run of a show because they were on vacation! America has become too sensitive and paranoid in today’s supposedly liberal and forward-thinking world.
