Most people, especially guys want to be taller. Unless you have dreams and aspirations of becoming a horse jockey, height is to your advantage for 95% of all sports. Basketball is a no-brainer for height and so are the other pro sports league out there. Girls want the “tall, dark, and handsome” man while guys just want girls.
A study that is to be released this week suggests that short people and tall people can receive serious injuries from air bags. It’s hard to fathom that vehicle air bags did not exist when I was a child and now they are standard in cars, just like power steering, air conditioning, and cup holders. The study, to be presented Friday at the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine annual meeting, states that air bags were effective for people of medium height. Medium height is defined as from 5 feet 3 inches tall to 5 feet 11 inches tall. Air bags were found to be actually harmful to people shorter than 4 feet 11 inches tall and those more than 6 feet 3 inches tall.

This study is not the end-all of studies and I’m sure that any air bag is safer than no air bag. With shoes on, I am almost 5 feet 11 inches so I’m safe from any dangerous air bags. It’s small consolation though because I’d rather be 6’3″ with a monster tennis serve and risk air bag injury than being just medium height.
