tax comic

Although the income tax return deadline was 3 weeks ago on April 30, I just filed mine today. Yes, there are penalties and interest charges if you file late and owe the government money but they owe me money so they don’t care if I take my time in filing. Actually, I was all ready to file a couple of months ago but just waited closer to the deadline to double-check everything. However, procrastination got the best of me and it’s finally taken this long to finally file online. I still remember the days when you had to mail everything out and make copies for your own records. The internet has truly revolutionized everything. I’m sure the amount of audits has probably increased as well due to computer automation. Now that most things can be automated, that leaves more time for human eyes to check red-flagged tax returns and penalize the cheaters. Income taxes are so high for Canadians, it just seems like a decent salary is barely livable after deductions. And it’s almost impossible to be well-off if you work for someone else.
