Ethan Hunt has nothing over Fernando Gonzales of Chile! Although Hunt is IMF’s top agent capable of high-risk espionage and a man of a thousand disguises, he has never beaten the world’s best tennis player in the world, let alone the greatest tennis player of all time.
Gonzales played really well in the 2nd set tie-break and there wasn’t much that Federer could do. He had a couple of lucky guesses, a couple of amazing inside-out forehands, and an irritable Federer that was ripe for the loss. This is Gonzales’ first victory over Federer after 11 meetings. Gonzales last played Federer in this year’s Australian Open Finals where Federer won in straight sets. Another amazing fact is that this is Federer’s first-ever lost in round robin competition at the Masters Cup.
Mission Difficult
Although Federer is still in the competition and can still qualify for the semi-finals, it will be mission difficult from here on. He still has to play Roddick and Davydenko in his group. The top two players in each group go on to the semi-finals where it will be sudden death.
