Unless you are from New York City, most people love it when the New York Yankees lose and suffer. “Yankees suck” is usually heard in the stands at opposing baseball stadiums. It’s not a fair playing field when they have unlimited funds to buy an all-star team. Their payroll for 2007 is a staggering $195 million and they can’t even dominate! They are currently trailing the Cleveland Indians 0-2 in the best of 5 first-round series of the MLB playoffs.
Win or lose, the credit and blame always falls on the manager’s ass so current Yankee manager Joe Torre has been issued an ultimatum by team owner George Steinbrenner:
“His job is on the line. I think we’re paying him a lot of money. He’s the highest-paid manager in baseball, so I don’t think we’d take him back if we don’t win this series.”
Don’t feel too sorry for Torre though because he makes $7 million a year.
