I recently ordered a Homer Simpson Hawaii-themed bobble-head from the Fox merchandise store. I couldn’t resist because they had a promotional of free shipping to any international destination. Even though Canada is next door to the States, we are considered foreigners by many merchants, especially eBay sellers. There are some eBay sellers that do not ship to Canadians and ones that charge more than double for shipping to Canada. Don’t get me started on that one so I’ll leave that for another blog rant, posting.

In the red

The price of the Homer bobble head was $12 and because they were also plugging The Simpsons movie at the time, every order received a free poster of The Simpsons movie poster. Here is a picture of the Homer bobble head figurine:

Here is a picture of the humungous box that arrived at my doorstep from UPS all the way from Illinois:

I’m sure that Fox lost a lot of money from all the international orders. Don’t they teach you the first lesson in business school that you shouldn’t sell product until you make money on it? Maybe the Fox merchandising people went to the Michael Scott (The Office) School of Business-Dunder Miffin.
