Even since fan-favorite Sanjaya was eliminated from American Idol last week, the entertainment value of the show has drastically decreased. I’m not too sure how this will translate to the TV ratings seeing how the show is a ratings juggernaut but it can’t help that he’s gone. It’s not like people will start watching the show now that he’s gone, it’s more like they will stop watching because he’s no longer there. The die-hard fans will watch the series from beginning to end but the casual fan like myself and a lot of my friends usually like to watch only the beginning auditions. Everyone stops to watch a car wreck and that’s what the beginning auditions are all about. William Hung is the perfect example of a car wreck that somehow became famous. Speaking of which, I wonder what he’s up to right now. Hopefully, he’s been able ride the gravy train long enough to be set for life. If not, he’s still highly educated and can fall back on his engineering background. Sanjaya is way more talented than William Hung so let’s hope he’s able to shake his bon-bon and be living la vida loca as well.
