A lot of guys weight train because they think they can look like Schwarzeneggar. A lot of girls avoid weight-training because they don’t want to look like Schwarzeneggar. Both types of thought are completely wrong! It’s extremely hard to look like a body builder even if you are a gym rat and pump the iron all the time. You pretty much have to dedicate your life to a strict routine of heavy lifting, cardio, and a diet of chicken breast, yams, and whey protein.

Weight-lifting is a necessity for all leisure and professional participants. When it is done properly, a stronger body will help to prevent injuries and improve one’s performance. I am a die-hard tennis junkie and weight-lifting has helped me tremendously in my game. It allows for stronger ground-strokes and less recovery time after a tough match. It’s also intimidating for your opponent when they see that you aren’t as exhausted as they are during the match.
How many sets, how many reps, how much weight……??? These questions should be left up to your personal trainer if you have one or left up to you for your training. I usually have a notepad that I jolt down all the weights, sets, reps I do in the workout. I always aim to meet or beat the last workout because that means that I’m progressing in my training. Yes, one day I will look like Mr. Olympia…..NEVER!
