If you are a regular reader of Rick Yuen Dot Com, you know that I love tennis. I don’t exactly live and breathe tennis but I’m addicted to playing the sport and watching it. OK, maybe I do live tennis but I deny it’s a problem. I’m still blown away why people are still fascinated with women’s tennis. They grunt when they hit regardless if it’s a slice or power shot, they only play best out of 3 sets yet they demand equal pay like the men, and their ratings aren’t as high as the men. Fine, no problem, we have to be politically correct and preach equality in today’s world but I hate it when I read headlines about tennis and all they talk about is Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams.

Yahoo just released their top ten sports news for 2007:
1. NASCAR
2. Maria Sharapova
3. Boston Red Sox
4. David Beckham
5. Serena Williams
6. Chicago Bears
7. Christiano Ronaldo
8. Super Bowl
9. Ronaldinho
10. Ashley Force

Why are Sharapova and Serena on the list when they haven’t done much on the court?! It’s sad to think that their off-court antics take precedence over anything else and that translates into endorsement money for them. You might as well throw in Britney Spears into the mix even if she’s not a sports figure. Insanity.
